Mobile General Practice Law Firm HistoryBriskman & Binion was founded in 1988, but has ties to the early 1800s through its tradition-steeped law office's that originally was the residence of Mobile attorney David Chandler. Chandler's 1844 Federal-style townhouse is located in the cradle of Mobile's legal district, near all the courthouses. Chandler was a law partner of John Archibald Campbell, a U.S. Supreme Court justice for whom the Mobile federal courthouse is named. The elegant three-story brick structure, meticulously restored for law office use by the Mobile law firm, has been recognized with an architectural award for preservation from the Mobile Historic Preservation Society. The ante-bellum offices stand near the grounds of Fort Conde, built by the French in 1711 when Mobile was the capital of the Old Louisiana Territory. Today the gracious former residence with its wrought-iron balconies in the shadow of the modern high-rise Government Plaza exemplifies Briskman & Binion's dedication to the finest traditions of Mobile's legal heritage and its future |
